One of the nerve-wracking moments that you have to encounter is attending a job interview. It can be frightening to participate in such a meeting, especially if you have no idea as to what usually happens in interviews. At the same time, the level of your anxiety or stress can also be affected by the fact that you want to grab the job. Do not worry because feeling all these things is only reasonable. Instead, try to focus on what you can do to get over your low self-esteem. Keep in mind that the key to acing any interview is to show that you are confident in applying for the position.
Being evaluated by strangers, worrying about getting a job you need, fearing rejection, finding parking, getting there on time—any one of these things can jar even the calmest job seeker. — Amy Armstrong, MS, NCC, MCC, LPC
Here are some of the tips and tricks to follow to ace your interview:
- Read About The Company
Before showing up at the office, make sure that you have already read about the firm that you want to become a part of. Knowing that you have researched about the history, vision mission and top functions of the company can somehow make you feel comfortable during the process of the interview. As such, it will be easier on your part to convince yourself to stay calm while the top executive asks questions related to the job that you are applying for.
- Practice Answering Questions
As much as possible, try to prepare for the big day by checking out sample questions from websites or books. The person-in-charge for the interview usually has a set of questions to ask the interviewee. Your goal is to impress the said person by answering all his inquiries correctly. However, it is significant to note that there is also a need to practice your body language. Make an effort to show the other person that he has all your attention.

- Wear Something You Like
During the meeting with your potential employer, the first thing that you need to remember is that you have to feel good about yourself. It is necessary that you are confident with the question and answer session. To make this happen, start shopping for the dress you like. Wear something that makes you happy. It will be easier for you to participate in the meeting if you are confident with your corporate attire. Keep it simple yet classy.
- Be Positive About It
This is the part where you need to imagine yourself that you have succeeded. Try to visualize a scene where the interviewer likes your attitude and personality. Imagine a situation where the said executive admires your answers. You will be surprised at how doing this can ultimately boost your self-confidence or self-esteem. Relax and be confident that you got it. Practice this every single day until you become good at it.
